I installed a traffic feed on my blog, just for fun, to see who's coming, etc. But I'm kind of starting to be freaked out a little bit - where is Timisoara, Timis, who do I know there, how did they find my blog, and why are they visiting me? I've also had visits from lots of places in Canada, England, Germany....who are these people?
I never worried about this before, but???? why are these random people visiting my blog? I'm now thinking about going private - which I really didn't want to do....but WHERE IS TIMIS, AND WHO DO I KNOW THERE?
So I'm asking a favor....please leave me a comment telling me who you are. I do some blog-jogging too, and I know you might not know me well...or at all....but please let me know who you are and maybe where you're from, and how you came upon my blog. I would love to see who's coming to my blog.
Sorry for the rant......

Okay - I Wikipedia-ed Timisoara.....it's in ROMANIA!!!!

Heather, I know how you feel, I find it strange too. Also I am going to do that photo tag but it will have to wait til I get back from vacation since I have been super busy & had birthday posts going up this week. Thanks & keep up the great coupon/sales deals, love them.
It is probably someone who was looking something up on the internet and your blog came up on the list. To keep random weird people from happening on my blog (and so I don't feel like I need to go private). I first change a few things under "settings" then "basic". Select no for blog listings and no for search engine. Also I would recommend taking your last name off your blog and just use first names. Also I don't have my blog listed on my profile so when someone clicks on my profile from a comment on someone else's blog then they can't get to my blog. Does any of that make sense? Email me if you have questions. It will really help the weird traffic.
I am from Springtucky... It's a land located just south of you. :o)
Ohhh, weird. Kinda creepy weird. Thanks for all that info/advice Brenley. Even though I don't know you :)
I would just appreciate it if my fellow bloggers wouldn't use my last name in their links (of friends, family). I've googled my name before and where does it come up? On those blogs where people have listed my first and last name. Great :( I have considered private (as you know) but I also kind of enjoy 'meeting' new people who blog hop.
Don't count too much on people telling you who they are. Some blogs that I've gone to say "email me" so I have when I want to write something a bit more personal relating to their post. Some have been responsive and others just ignored me which was a bit hurtful, but hey. What can say? (well, a lot of things, but Iwon't.) So anyway I think it's fun to have a wider range of readers but it would be nice to know who they are. Like you, I've at times requested readers to identify themselves and they're not very forthcoming.
I think, also, (since this is getting so long anyway) that if I had kids I would really consider going private. Anyone can come to your blog and copy a photo to use for their own purposes (scamming someone, using your photo for dating site instead of displaying their own, perverts who like children, etc. etc. I also worry that even though we may be careful about including names of our kids, the places they live and frequent, etc., it's not much of a step away for another person to find out who our friends are and to determine where they're spending time and who they're hanging out with and all of a sudden we have been mentioned as being at the Gethsemane Christian Church on Park Road or something. At that point if someone really wants to know how to find your child, or you, or someone--they can, if they're just patient enough. and then there is info to start on. Probably nothing I've written makes much sense. I took a sleeping pill and it's making me drowsy. That's my excuse. Good luck!
I know how you feel. We went private after a lady got on our blog and said that we had an adorable son and asked me a couple of questions. It creeped me out. I may not leave a comment very often, but I like seeing what your family is up to!
Heather, my cousin is one of the co-founders of Mormon Mommy Blogs and she is the one who helped me make my blog. If you want to send me a private email, then I'll share all the security stuff that she did on my blog.
She is the one who advised me not to use our real names at all. I also never say locations, etc. Because she is so well known through her blogs, she has a few stories that will make the hair stand up on the back of your neck. :)
But, you don't need to go private, unless you want to. Again, I'd be glad to share what I've learned. Just send me an email.
I usually don't leave a comment but I do like to see how your family is doing as well. : ) also happy to hear your husband is doing much better.
Hey Heather just stopped by via Andrea's blog to see what you were up to these days. I put on a traffic feed on my blog a few months ago and I've got almost as many hits from other continents as I do from the U.S. I understand how it can creep you out. I've thought about going private as well but enjoy the blog hopping also.
i wonder over here and there. i was actually glad to find your blog via blog hopping. one of my favorite things to do when i am really bored. i love to see how may "hops" it takes to make it back to someone I know. Once I hopped all the way to my own sisters blog threw the blogs of a lot of people i don't know. it's such a small world in the LDS community. :)
