We moved in to our new house 4 months ago this weekend. We purchased a brand new construction home, and it was up to us to put in a backyard. With Jeff going to school full-time and working 40+ hours a week, I didn't think we'd ever get the yard done. 4 months ago....
(This is our yard the day we moved in. Andrea is showing where our property line is.)So finally, we decided that we needed help. I had several landscape companies come out to give estimates on landscaping and fencing the yard. Yikes!! The cheapest bid was almost $4,000!!! So we were back to the do-it-ourselves plan. Sort of. We hired Kevin to come and do the landscaping for us. Much cheaper!!! The biggest job was for him to clear out all of the rocks and level the yard. Apparently Vancouver, WA has a reputation for having extremely rocky soil. Sorry Kevin! He did a great job, and this is what it looked like when he left.
2 weeks ago......
Still no back fence (the rocks are marking the property line now), but no rocks either!! We have been watering constantly, and this is what it looks like now.Today.....

We are already getting lots of compliments from our neighbors about the yard. I think they are just glad they're not looking at rocks and weeds anymore! Kevin worked really hard, and Janae is great at giving him all the credit. When she hears anyone talking about the progress of our yard, she says, "Kevin made my yard really pretty!"
Another week or so, and it will be ready to play on!! Her slide can finally leave the playroom and go outside where it belongs!

I have total house envy right now!
I keep telling myself "Though shalt not covet!" But I can't help it, I want a house so badly. Your house is so beautiful, and the yard is looking great!
It is nice to have a house. My biggest (unsoliticed) advice, however, is DON'T FILL IT UP WITH STUFF! We're planning to sell ours and we just keep going through our stuff and taking it to Goodwill. And it's good stuff too! Just lots of extras (lawn chairs, sleeping bags, folding chairs, folding tables, etc.). Or, just never plan to move I guess!
Your yard is looking great. Good job Kevin!
What is Jeff going to school for? I mean, what is he studying? I can't imagine working 40 hours and going to school. I can't even work 40 + hours and keep up with my life outside of work!
