So long Maggie...Hello sprinkler

On Saturday, Maggie went to live with her new family. As most of you know, she was really good with the kids for several weeks, but lately things had been going down hill. The clincher came last Thursday; every time Kiera would start crawling in her direction, Maggie would start growling. So I re-contacted the rescue group, and by Sat. morning they had a new home for her. She is overall a good dog, but needs to be with a family that does not have small kids. We were really worried about how Janae would handle it because she was so attached, but she actually did really well. We talked a lot about Maggie leaving, and I think she understood, but she did try to help come up with some creative solutions to the problem first. Here is one conversation we had:

Janae: "But why does Maggie have to go to her new home?"

Me: "Because we've had a really long turn, and it is someone else's turn to play with her now. And Maggie doesn't really like Kiera very much; she growls at the baby."

J: "Mama, I have a great idea. Just put Kiera back in your tummy - then we can keep Maggie. That will work, right!"

I give her points for trying to work it out, but in the end, Maggie went away and J's done really good.

Here are some picts of J and Maggie playing in the sprinkler on Maggie's last day here. It's weird that just a few days ago it was 96, and this week is mid-60s and raining...

Beans posing for the camera. We bought her a new swimming suit - and of course she picked out pink!
My new flowers.....
